So this blog is to tell you everything you need to know about this eco-friendly, versatile and creative digitally printable material and how you can incorporate it into your print business to wow your customers.
Let’s start with the basics; AlumiGraphics is a SGIA award-winning foil based media that comes in four different finishes that are perfect for wall and floor graphics and has been heralded as the aluminium foil media that goes where other materials wouldn’t dare! One of its key benefits is the ability to apply AlumiGraphics using a roller (rather than a heat gun) onto heavily textured or rough surfaces, such as brick or concrete, opening up a whole range of surfaces that conventional print materials, such as vinyl, can’t be applied to. All you need is a dry, clean surface.
The green credentials of AlumiGraphics are plentiful, given that it contains no PVC and can be easily recycled along with other aluminium products. It’s also extremely easy to install and remove without specialist training or equipment. Check out our YouTube channel and you’ll see just how easily you can apply up to 250 square feet an hour!
You can print directly onto AlumiGraphics using digital printing hardware running with solvent, eco-solvent, UV and latex ink. The Smooth versions can also be screen printed, which adds to its dexterity. There’s no need to over laminate which makes for a faster turnaround and cuts production costs. The foil is highly durable even without lamination, and offers an expected outdoor life of between six months to two years.
It’s not just printed applications either. AlumiGraphics can be cut to shape using most printer/cutters and plotters, along with good old fashioned guillotines or simple scissors, expanding its application repertoire.
The beauty of this material is that you can really think outside the box and take advantage of overlooked spaces for marketing and advertising, such as pavements, concrete columns, tiled surfaces, brick walls and tarmac. AlumiGraphics has no memory and easily conforms and holds the shape of the surface it is being applied to. When properly compressed to the surface, it takes on its texture, appearing as a painted image, unaffected by changes in temperature or moisture levels. If you’re using AlumiGraphics on an area where water congregates then you need additional sealing of the edges to ensure it stays moisture free. As easy to remove as it is to install, AlumiGraphics leaves no residue behind.

AlumiGraphics Smooth is a white foil-based material, available in matte or satin, that’s ideal for coloured wall graphics including advertising, wayfinding, promotional events and safety compliance. If durability is your key requirement, then Smooth is the one for you!
AlumiGraphics Silver Smooth is a metallic brushed silver foil based print media for both outdoor and indoor wall graphics. This is a great option if you need a shinier, high-end effect for wall graphics as you can create a crisp surface print with the unique characteristics of a metallic effect.
AlumiGraphics Grip is a gloss white printable foil-based material that has a slip resistant surface, making it ideal for floor graphics. AlumiGraphics Grip can be applied over the top of vinyl flooring and tiles, as well as highly textured surfaces which mean it’s great in areas of high footfall, such as exhibitions or walkways that need to withstand heavy pedestrian traffic in both dry and wet conditions.
AlumiGraphics Half Glow Grip is the ultimate glow-in-the-dark printable media, ideal for rigid outdoor and indoor flooring applications, due to its anti-slip surface, but can also be used on wall surfaces. It has a photo-luminescent surface which gives a unique finish to printed graphics used in areas of poor lighting or for the Halloween season!
