Fabric Flag Material

Knitted. Mesh. Woven. What factors should influence your choice of flag
material? Here’s the Soyang guide.

Take a quick tour of the flags available through Soyang and you’ll see there
are essentially three types of flag material for printing: knitted, mesh and
woven. So what are the benefits of each, and why might you choose one flag
fabric over another when deciding what to stand/hang around your store or
exhibition?

Which flag fabric material?

Knitted flags

There’s nothing quite so underwhelming as a flag that won’t fly. That’s what
makes knitted polyester a great material for flags. This lightweight material
flutters proudly in the slightest breeze, making it great for outdoor locations.

The eye-catching movement of a knitted flag, however, means that this is a
flag for relatively benign conditions. Intended for long-lasting use in an
environment subject to gales, you’ll find other flag materials better suited to
the job (see below).

Mesh flags

Not every flag needs to be capable of withstanding the elements. In terms of
durability, any flag fabric will do when it’s hanging above you stand at an
indoor expo. But what happens when you need your flags to deliver impact
outdoors?

As we explore above, not all flag materials are designed for long lasting
outdoor use – and no one wants a tatty, shredded flag to advertise their
organisation.

That’s the chief advantage of mesh material flags. The tiny perforations create
a breathable material that offers less resistance to wind. The result is a
durable flag that doesn’t tear and won’t be twisted out of shape by gusty
conditions – so your message/images remain clear.

Woven flags

The beauty of woven polyester is the premium look and feel. A heavier-duty
fabric means this won’t flap as freely as a knitted flag, but it will last longer
and typically delivers greater UV resistance than knitted flags. A dependable
option indoors and out.
